An origin of the place name is Ainu, and Shibetsu-cho located at the easternmost tip of Hokkaido is known for a long time as a town of the salmon by having the meanings of “the places where there is the salmon”.
In addition, a great variety of native district food exists in order to keep the resources mainly on this salmon alive.
